We were lucky enough to be invited by our friends at Maison d’Architecture to the Northern Design Awards 2014 held at The Devonshire Dome in Buxton which turned out to be a fantastic evening. A big thankyou to Alan from Trombe who were the main sponsors for the evening.
The Devonshire Dome is one of the most dramatic spaces in Britain and the largest unsupported dome in Europe.
What better place to celebrate design than in this architecturally stunning Grade II listed venue with its 44-columns and 145ft diameter colonnade supporting the 560 ton roof.
Built in the late 18th century in the famous spa town of Buxtonby the 5th Duke of Devonshire as stabling accommodation; it would soon become the Devonshire Royal Hospital. In 2001 the University of Derby acquired the building and the Dome is now a campus for both the University and Buxton College.
Buxton itself was recently voted one of the best places to live in Britain by The Sunday Times and is famous for its Georgian architecture and being the gateway to the Peak District.
A very big congratulations to our friends at Curve Interior Design who won best residential interior design practice. It’s fantastic to be working with such great companies and amazing to see that its not all just happening down in London. The North has a lot to offer and it’s not just great scenery!
